I just got back from a fun morning working with Linda Miller on her new LCH blog, “Notes from Nana Linda: Promoting a spiritual life for children.” Linda was a quick learner. We got the new blog all set up, and she completed her first post (with a picture!).
I had mentioned Kathy’s new blog to Linda last Saturday at In Stitches and said that I hoped someone from the Sunday School would want to do something so everyone could learn more of the wonderful opportunities they create for our keiki. Linda listened politely and said she couldn’t do it.
The next day after church, she came up to me and said she realized that she did fell called to share her thoughts on how we can promote the spiritual life with our young ones. A couple of days later she had a title for her blog and a couple of draft posts. And now the blog is up. I encourage you to take a look.
And now I wonder, “Who’s next?”
It’s been a busy week behind the scenes in blogging at LCH. No sooner had I gotten the blogging software installed and Kathy was off with her music blog. There were settings to adjust, plugins to be found, a theme to be decided on, and banners to be designed. Fortunately, Kathy had lots of content and drive, so four days later, Kathy said it’s OK to start telling people about her blog, “Another Year of Insanity: News from the LCH Music Department.”
I have a busy day of page layout work on The HeartBeat, our LCH newsletter, and wine tasting this afternoon with the Mary Magdalene Society, but I hope to begin spreading the word this afternoon.
So, Kathy Crosier emails me and says she wants to do a blog about the upcoming year of concerts and special services marking Carl’s last year as cantor of the Lutheran Church of Honolulu. And she wonders whether she should just do it on one of the blogging platforms or on the LCH website. And I write back that we should try to have it on the LCH site to ensure a strong connection. But then I have to figure out which blogging software we should install and then get it installed. And I figure there will probably be others, so we want something that could host multiple blogs, and that made the installation more complicated…. You get the picture.
Anyway, the blogging software was installed last night, and I set up this blog and one for Kathy.
I don’t expect much action here, but I will make sure you know about new blogs that are on the horizon. Kathy’s blog, “Another Year of Insanity,” should be interesting reading. I’ll let you know when she’s ready.
We will also be making changes to the appearance of these two blogs once we have had a chance to look through available templates and choose one that we think will work for most LCH blogs.
